Following success with the Good Design Awards based in Australia, AIR OPUS was nominated by the German Design Council for entry into the German Design Awards 2018. Announced on the 20th October 2017 as a Winner in the transportation category. The jury agreed that the design and innovation on show was worthy of an international award.
The trend-setting AIR OPUS Self-Inflating Camper has added a Good Design Award to its accolades in Australia’s internationally coveted 2017 Good Design Awards. Only the Tesla Model X and semi-autonomous Caterpillar digger could beat the AIR OPUS for top honours in its category. Other winners in the category included global style and engineering leaders such as Audi and Mazda.

The Nissan x OPUS concept integrates the recently unveiled Nissan Energy ROAM, a portable, all-in-one, weatherproof power pack harnessing Nissan’s EV battery technology for convenient, emission-free and silent power on the go.
With a storage capacity of 700Wh and a power output of 1kW, the ROAM’s lithium-ion cells are recovered from first-generation Nissan electric vehicles, ensuring a sustainable second-life for the batteries.

Editor Marcel Schuler interviews our new German Distributor Michael Daams. Michael Daams was introduced to the AIR OPUS at Caravan Salon, Düsseldorf 2017. Michael and his wife soon fell in love with the product and understood the market potential in Germany. Michael explains the benefits of AIR OPUS and justifies why it’s the best folding camper to own!
Campfire Magazine first discovered our OPUS Camper a few years ago, and it soon featured in a review of ‘cool campers’. This time they comment “Our winner, by a wide margin, is the utterly fantastic OPUS. So, why the OPUS? Well, for its looks, its ease-of-opening, its build quality and its all-round versatility. Price isn’t bad either. In appearance, it’s a mix of a safari tent and sci-fi – airy, spacious and with options and accessories to suit family size ( four to ten berth) and your camping and outdoor life. The kitchens are beautiful, the beds comfortable and the sitting/dining room made for socialising. What’s more, the new AIR OPUS inflates itself in two minutes. It’s lightweight and low-profile and the racking system means you can load it with bikes, kayaks and more for your travels.
Taking to the Live Stage on Sunday 22nd October the crowds gathered in anticipation for the product reveal. Katy and Brett from OPUS HQ introduced the Off-Road Concept, using AIR pole technology to inflate the camper. Due to expansion across Europe the Off-Road Concept is intended for production in due course. Following the reveal Steve Groves, Winner of Masterchef: The Professionals used the external pull out kitchen of the Off-Road Concept to cook up a tasty mackerel and herb salad taco. Steve commented “If I was going to cook outside, this is the kind of set up I would want. Its nearly as well equipped as my kitchen at home – it’s a breeze!”
At a first glance the AIR OPUS looks like an ordinary trailer. But with the push of a button it inflates itself at lightening speed to a four berth camper with kitchenette.
Anyone who sees a car towing an AIR OPUS may think that it is a normal folding camper, but nothing is less true. In this trailer there is luxury accommodation that inflates in around 90 seconds using an internal pump.
Editor Rafał Jemielita comments on the comfort offered inside the AIR OPUS, along with the leatherette seating area, 240v power, microwave, gas stove with options including USB ports and audio systems.
